CRICKET UPDATES 11th jan 2023
PCB releases significant Mickey Arthur update
The PCB will keep
looking for the best candidate to fill the position of head coach for the
national team.
Mickey Arthur, a former
head coach of the national team, has been in negotiations with the Pakistan
Cricket Board (PCB) about taking over as the team's coach as they prepare for
the ACC Asia Cup, ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, ICC Men's T20 World Cup, and ICC
Champions Trophy in 2025.
We have also spoken
about a plan to work as an advisor to the PCB on such a moment basis with
Derbyshire due to his long-term commitment with Derbyshire, though. Sadly, this
alternative is having trouble becoming a reality for a number of reasons on both
sides.
In light of the
situation, the PCB will resume its hunt for the ideal candidate to fill the
position of head coach for the national team, and a number of prestigious names
are already in the running.
It should be noted that
Arthur had a track record of success with the squad, having guided them to a
record 11 straight T20I series victories and their first-ever Champions Trophy
victory in 2017.
Recently, there has
been discussion of altering the coaching staff due to the team's disappointing
home performance.
Despite reaching a T20 World Cup final in 2022, some supporters are demanding changes to the coaching staff.
Divisions, regions, and
area associations are reinstated by PCB.
16 District Cricket
Organizations will now take part in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy as a result of the
release of the notifications.
On Monday, Najam Sethi,
chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Board, formally authorized
notices for reinstating District/Zonal Cricket Associations, Regions, and
Departments/Services Organizations under the PCB Constitution 2014.
Following the
publication of the notifications, the Patron's Trophy will now include eight
departments and 16 Regional Cricket Organizations competing for the
Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for the 2023–24 season, which will begin in August.
The specifics of
further tournaments, including Degree, 50-over, and 20-over competitions for
the region and departmental sides during the domestic cricket season of
2023–24, will be released in due time.
In the PCB Constitution
2019, which was dissolved in December 2022, the Departments/Services
Organization, Region, and District/Zonal Cricket Associations were changed by
the six Cricket and 90 City Cricket Associations.
In accordance with
Ministry notices dated 22 December 2022 concerning the repeal of the Pakistan
Cricket Board's Constitution, which were made public through SRO 1045(1)/2019
on 19 August 2019, and Ministry alerts dated 22 December 2022 regarding the
restoration of the PCB Founding document 2014,
The notification
stated: "As well as further actions will be taken in due course. The
Management Board of the Pakistan Cricket Board hereby officially makes an
announcement the reconstruction of all Departments/Service Organizations,
Regions, and District/Zonal Cricket Association as identified by the Panel under
the PCB Constitution 2014."
"I am happy to
report that Departments/Services Organization, Region, and District/Zonal
Cricket Organizations have been formally reinstated under the 2014 PCB
Constitution," said Najam Sethi.
